Appeal Court unanimously affirms Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat’s election
The Appeal court in Lagos has upheld the September 25th judgment of the state election tribunal which affirmed the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat as the Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos state.
In a unanimous judgment delivered today November 15, the three-man panel of judges comprising Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola and Justice Paul Bassey dismissed the petition filed by PDP’s candidate in the March 18 guber election, Abdulazeez Adediran aka Jandor.
The judges held that his petition lacked merit. It held that Jandor and his party failed to prove their allegations of forgery and non-qualification against Sanwo-Olu and his deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
“Even though they were all pre-election matters, the appellants (PDP and Adeniran) still failed to prove them. The appellants came empty-handed and left empty-handed. They merely enjoyed their day in court. Their petition is dismissed.” the judgment said.
