Erik ten Hag’s Comments In Relation To Cristiano Ronaldo Interview With Piers Morgan

Ronaldo, in the uncensored interview, claimed that Ten Hag and a few others at the club are forcing him out of the club.

The Red Devils resigned Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus last season in a bid to advance Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s chances of succeeding at the Theatre of Dreams but the opposite happened, with the Norwegian losing his jobs weeks after the return of CR7.

United appointed Ralf Rangnick in an effort to unite the dressing room but the German boss failed in his quest and guided Manchester United to their worst Premier League season in recent decades.

Erik ten Hag joined the club at the end of last season and during one of his first interviews as Man United boss, he described Ronaldo as a ‘giant’ who he will love to have at Old Trafford.

United’s failure to finish in the top-four led to Cristiano Ronaldo wanting out and he made a huge statement by refusing to join up with Ten Hag’s squad for pre-season in far East and Australia.

Ten Hag reacted by limiting the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to substitute appearances and Europa League starts.

On a few times Ten Hag had ordered Ronaldo to warm up on the touchline during matches but eventually didn’t bring him on and during the Tottenham game in north London last month, the former Juventus forward stormed down the tunnel when the United manager repeated that, to which he got suspended and fined by Ten Hag.

Although the former Ajax manager regularly said in press that Cristiano Ronaldo remains in his plans, the Portuguese star has claimed that the Dutch tactician doesn’t respect him and is one of those forcing him out of Manchester United

Speaking to Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said: “I don’t have respect for him [Erik ten Hag] because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

When asked if he’s being forced out of Old Trafford, Ronaldo said: “Yes. Not only the coach, the other two or three guys around the club — I felt betrayed.”

Erik ten Hag has regularly talked about how he wants his squad to play and that’s the opposite of Cristiano Ronaldo’s belief, who expects the team to play to his strength.

The Dutch boss wants a team that fights for each other but somehow, Ronaldo has struggled to adapt to that, hence not a regular starter under Ten Hag’s watch.

Speaking to a Dutch outlet, the Man United boss said: “Something is arising at this club. A squad is being created, a squad that wants to fight for each other.”

Some football pundits including Wayne Rooney has advised Erik ten Hag to offload Cristiano Ronaldo and sign a younger striker as part of the squad rebuild.

Ronaldo has suggested that he’s willing to leave the club if that’s the rebuild it takes for Manchester United to bounce back to the top.

“You have to destroy it to rebuild it and if they start with me, for me, it’s not a problem,” Ronaldo told Pier Morgan.

“I love Manchester United, I love the fans, they’re always on my side. But if they want to do it different… they have to change many, many things.”
