EPL: Iheanacho Saves Man City From Another Embarrassing Defeat

Manchester City’s stuttering form continued with Pep Guardiola’s side needing a second-half equaliser from substitute Kelechi Iheanacho to secure a point against Southampton in a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

After a fairly tame opening to the game Southampton took the lead just before the half-hour mark. John Stones guilty of a terrible back pass, which Nathan Redmond latched on to before rounding Claudio Bravo and firing home the opener.

The centre-back thought he had quickly made amends, however, tapping home Kevin De Bruyne’s free kick at the far post just minutes later to level the scores only to see it disallowed for offside.

Having failed to get a single shot on target in the first half Guardiola opted to make a change at the interval bringing on Iheanacho for De Bruyne and the substitute took less than 10 minutes to bring his side level.

Fernandinho started the move, a fine crossfield pass finding Leroy Sane, who controlled the ball before crossing for Iheanacho to fire home at the near post.
