INEC officials caught with pre-recorded result sheets in ongoing Kogi governorship election

Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been caught with pre-recorded result sheets in the ongoing Kogi governorship election.


The officials were caught in Ogori/Msngogo Local Government of Kogi State on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

In one of the sheets sighted by our correspondent, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was given 289, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 4.

In a video shared by the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Dino Melaye reacting to the development accused the ruling party, APC of trying to compromise the election.

He also said that the voters in the local government have refused to continue with the process due to the develompment.

Meanwhile, in a swift reaction, INEC said it is currently investigating the incident.

In the terse statement issued on Twitter, INEC said;

“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.

“The Commission views this situation seriously.

“Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly.”
