Tinubu orders security operatives to rescue remaining female university students abducted in Zamfara
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to rescue the remaining female students of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were abducted by terrorists.
Recall on Friday, an unspecified number of students of the university were abducted from an off-campus hostel.
However, hours after the incident, in an operation carried out by the Troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI under the command of the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army rescued 6 of the kidnapped students.
Tinubu in a statement issued on Sunday, condemning the reprehensible act of abduction, said there is no moral justification for such a heinous act against innocent victims whose only “offense” was their pursuit of quality education.
He affirmed that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return.
He further pledged that he’s determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, and totally free from the menacing acts of terrorists.
