FIFA increased the number of Slot for African Teams in the 2026 world cup after Morocco Reach Semi Finals
In the present and previous FIFA world cups, Africa can only have 5 teams in the competition. Considering the fact that Africa has the most countries in the world, this is demographically problematic.
Most African fans think their countries are not giving enough opportunity to participate. So FIFA has agreed to increase the World Cup to a 48-team competition come 2026 with Africa having 9 slots.
Morroco’s latest victory to Semi Finals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar simply means Africa will get 11 slots in the 2026 World Cup.
9 permanent slots, 1 via playoff and 1 because they reached the Semi Finals. This is Great News for all Africans.
