The Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the deployment of army troops, and security squads to Imo State, following the recent attack on a prison facility in Owerri, Imo State.

CP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, said in a statement that preliminary inquiries have confirmed that the attackers, who arrived in large groups armed with sophisticated weapons such as General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), Sub- Machine Guns (SMGs), and AK49 rifles, used sophisticated weapons such as GPMGs, SMGs, and AK49 rifles, and were members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

According to him, the attackers’ attempt to gain entry to the Police armory at Headquarters was met with complete and sufficient resistance by on- duty Police operatives, who repelled the attackers and stopped them from breaking in and stealing the armory.

As a result, the armory is undamaged! Aside from a police constable who received a minor gunshot wound to his back, the police suffered no human casualties.

Meanwhile, the police have seized one of the attackers’ operating cars, which is currently being forensically examined and investigated.

The IGP has urged leaders in Imo State, the South- East, and other parts of the country to speak out against the escalating violence and criminality, which he characterized as an assault on the nation’ s soul.
