A mentally challenged man named Monday Edejere, has died in a church in Evwreni community, in the Ughelli North council area of Delta State.

Monday Edejere was also a former member of the Ogor vigilance group,

The church’s founder, Prophet Moses Uregbu, was reportedly praying for him when he slumped and died on Monday.

Punch newspaper reports that a source said the victim, who was taken to the prophet for spiritual healing by his relatives, was allegedly flogged during the prayers.

The prophet and some members of the church reportedly battled to revive him, but failed.

The President-General of Evwerni community, Chief Victor Ohare, said the case was reported at the Police ‘A’ Division, Ughelli.

“We don’t know if he was flogged by the prophet,” he added.

The prophet has been arrested. This was confirmed by the Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka.

Andrew Aniamaka said:

“One Micheal Edejere reported that on February 25, 2018, he took his sick brother, Monday Edejere, to Pastor Moses Uregbu for healing, but that on April 2, information got to the family that Monday had died.

The family is claiming that the young man died because of the injuries on his body. Investigation is ongoing.”

This won’t be the first time a mad man taken to Nigerian pastors by their families for deliverance ended up dead.

Two mad men of same parents reportedly died while receiving prayers in a prayer ministry at Mile 50, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital.

Daily Sun reports that three siblings, who were mad, were taken to the ministry for prayers by one of their brothers simply identified as Chinedu. Chinedu felt the prayers were not effective enough to heal his brothers and allegedly sought for another powerful prophet outside the church to come and pray for them.

According to an eyewitness, the prophet prayed and administered a substance suspected to be ‘anointing oil’ on the three mad men and left. Surprisingly, two out of the three mad men were found dead the next morning.

The other time, a pastor nearly got beaten up by a madman he was trying to deliver by force.

In the video that went viral on social media, the unnamed pastor could be seen forcefully trying to deliver the madman as people watched hilariously.

The drama got more intense when the madman took another route only for the pastor to accost and wrestle him to the floor shouting ‘blood of Jesus’ at him.
