Tension In Enugu As Unknown Gunmen Kill ASP & Sergent In Gun Battle
Two policemen have been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Enugu.
Our source gathered that the victims include an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Otunji Philip and a sergeant.
Spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed this in a statement on Friday, said the police “have commenced trail of the suspects.”
He disclosed that the “yet to be identified gun men shot directly on the policemen, which resulted to the instant death of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Otunji Philip and later the death of one sergeant, Manne Wilson.”
He further stated that “the State commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu while commisserating with the families of the deceased officers has equally expressed displeasure on the incident.
“Attacking police means attacking peace; the machinery is already in place to unmask those behind the dastardly act.
“The state command will not relent in the bid to ensure the safety and security of the citizenry.”
Meanwhile, sources further hinted that one of the policemen luckily escaped from the scene, to tell the tale
