Obasanjo In Secret Meeting With Tambuwal
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Tuesday, August 12, held a secret meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Hilltop home in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State.
Punch gathered that, Tambuwal’s visit might not be unconnected with the speaker’s 2015 political ambition as he arrived at the former president’s residence around 5.30pm, left around 6.18pm.
It is believed that Tambuwal is nursing a presidential ambition.
However, his media aide, Mr. Imam Imam, said Tambuwal and Obasanjo only rubbed minds on the state of the nation and how to move it forward.
He said, “You know Baba is father to all in the country. The visit was a consultation. It is about rubbing minds on how to move the country forward and make Nigeria better.”
Asked whether the visit was in connection with Tambuwal’s rumoured presidential ambition in 2015, Imam said he could not confirm that because it was a closed door meeting between Tambuwal and Obasanjo.
He said, “I can’t say anything on that because it was a closed door meeting. About the presidential ambition, that also I cannot comment on. Let’s wait till 2015 and then we will address that.”
Meanwhile it would be recalled in February 2014, it was reported that Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal was in a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Tambuwal, however, said the meeting with Obasanjo was on “matters of national interest”
