“Reverse Wike’s confirmation as minister” – APC chieftain to Senate

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has charged the Nigerian senate to reverse the confirmation of Nyesom Wike as minister.

He made the call via a statement on Wednesday, saying that the nomination of Wike as minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the screening and confirmation by the Senate “is an affront to decency, as facts on him do not qualify him as a character that merits such an office.”

The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) described the alleged refusal of the President to pay heed to “reports and fact-filled opinions on the non-qualification of the former governor to hold public office in the country” as a disappointment.

Eze alleged that the European Union Election Observation Report for the 2023 general elections had mentioned the former Rivers state governor for indictment over his activities in during the polls.

“Such imposition at a time the country is struggling to redeem her electorally battered image and reclaim credibility within the international community is, to say the least, ridiculous,” he added.
