“Whether you voted for me or not ‘I am your president” – Tinubu Lament
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for unity to stabilise the country, while issuing a reminder to the citizenry that he is their leader regardless of the party they voted for during the 2023 presidential election.
According to a statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Dele Alake on Saturday, he made the comment during an interactive session with the Nigerian diasporan community in France.
Tinubu departed Nigeria days ago to attend a two-day economic summit hosted by the French government.
He promised to work in the best interest of the people of Nigeria and bring about prosperity.
Tinubu said; “We must promote unity and stability for all. Whether you voted for me during the elections, or not, I am your President. I will work on your behalf to ensure a turning point of prosperity.”
On his decision to immediately remove fuel subsidy, the president said; “We have transport challenges, electricity challenges, infrastructural challenges and others. I let out the giant elephant of fuel subsidy without bringing down the house.”
Tinubu assumed office on May 29, but his victory is being challenged in court by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party candidates.
