The daughter of the widow who was bound and flogged by members of her community in Umueghu, Abia state, has broken her silence.

A disturbing video of the widow identified as Mrs. Amarachi Okechi being humiliated after her late husband’s brother’s wife accused her of being a witch made the rounds online a few days ago.

The youths in Umueghu, Amaegbuato community, Nkpa Bende LGA, Abia State, tied her up publicly for two days, after which the grown men in the community took turns flogging her with five strokes each all over her body.

The video sparked outrage, and the wife of the Abia State Governor announced that she has been rescued and taken to a hospital.

Reacting to the incident in a Facebook post, the widow’s daughter, identified as Flourish Victor, said she had to leave Lagos for Umuahia when she heard what had been done to her mother.
