“I Can Kidnap More Nigerians If I Kill Him Today, I Won’t Take Anything Below N50m As Ransom” – Terrorist Tells Relation Of Murdered Oyo Hotelier
One of the terrorists who murdered Olugbenga Owolabi, a hotelier in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, insisted that he would not collect any amount below N50 million as ransom to free him.
Edujandon.com heard this in an audio recording of the negotiation between the terrorist and one of the victim’s relations.
The terrorist boasted that if he killed Owolabi, he had nothing to lose because he could go out and kidnap more Nigerians.
The terrorists reportedly murdered Owolabi and Rachael Opadele, a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
On July 29, the gunmen kidnapped Owolabi and Opadele in Ogbomoso.
The final-year LAUTECH student was said to have been working with the hotelier owing to the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
It was learnt that the abductees were reportedly shot dead on Tuesday evening after the kidnappers collected N5 million as ransom.
“Let’s kill this man. Do you know how many years we spent before we were able to kidnap him successfully?” The terrorist asked Owolabi’s relatives during a telephone conversation when they pleaded with him to consider collecting a ransom of N2 million.”
He continued: “You and that N2 million, God go punish you. You and that money, God go punish you and your family. You dey talk to me say N2 million abi? Your brother (Owolabi) talk say he go give me N50 million, you talk say N2 million, if you want talk about N2 million, no call this number tomorrow.”
In response to the pleas by the relation, the terrorist asked, “Wetin your sorry want do? Nah Fisebillilahi I dey do?”
“I’m satisfied with his death because he is not the only human being. If I kill him today, I will go and kidnap another person. After all, he is not my dad. N20 million can’t free him from me. I will not collect N50 million if it misses N5 million,” he added.
