Ukrainian fighter, Oleksandr Usyk has retained his IBF, WBO, WBA belts as he defeated former champion, Anthony Joshua in their rematch.

The Ukrainian won by split decision from the judges..

There’s a moment of drama as the scores were read out, with Joshua awarded a 115-113 decision by the first judge.

However, Usyk is awarded it 115-113 and 116-112 by the other two judges, and the Ukrainian retains his titles.

Usyk proves to be the better fighter as he dominated most of the rounds as the bigger and taller Joshua was no match for his prowess and skills.

It was a very close contest, but Usyk carried the day.

Many expected the Briton to land the big punches to end the match, but the Ukrainian was faster and more technical of the two.

The first few rounds of the encounter were very tight.

Joshua took Round five as he landed more shots, but Usyk came back to take Round six as he landed a good body shot early in the sixth, but Joshua took it pretty well. Usyk was having his best round as he continued to pepper Joshua with punches, and despite one good flurry from the Briton.

Round nine was Joshua’s best round, as he finally broke through the defences of Usyk and got his opponent on the run.

Usyk was forced to hold on as Joshua stalked him around the ring. The Brit was unable to land anything truly clean.

The Ukrainian came out hot in the other rounds and he tactically defeated Joshua in a close contest.
