A medical worker by the name of Babagana Bulama was taken hostage in Borno State by terrorists affiliated with a Boko Haram branch that is supported by the Islamic State. The ambush was set up by the fighters.

This organization was formerly known as Jam’ at Ahl as- Sunnah lid- Da’ wah wa- l- Jihd, but it is now known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The event took place on Wednesday night in the Northern Borno Senatorial District along the Nganzai- Monguno Road.

During the course of his work for the Borno State government as an official in the Monitoring and Evaluation (M& E) department, Bulama was taken captive by militants. When he was taken into custody, he was engaged in the performance of official responsibilities.

The event takes place a few months after armed people kidnapped Bulama Geidam, who was employed as a health care worker at Gubio General Hospital.

Terrorist acts that have resulted in the deaths of civilians and the displacement of others have continued to be a problem in the region known as the North East.

The Nigerian Army has said on multiple occasions that the insurgency has been mostly defeated, and it habitually downplays the number of casualties that have occurred as a result.
