It’s a shame, we deserve to concede more goals – Pochettino slams PSG stars after defeat

Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has hit out at his players for starting in the worst way possible against Monaco in a French Ligue 1 tie on Sunday..

Pochettino said his players lacked the ‘spirit’ to compete against Monaco in the first half, adding that they deserved to concede more goals.

The former Tottenham Hotspur coach also said that it is a shame that he would not be with his players for ten days due to the international break.

Two goals from Wissam Ben Yedder and a strike from Kevin Volland ensured Monaco defeated PSG.

“It’s difficult to talk. I think that we started the game in the worst way possible. It’s not acceptable to start like this and I think that’s the main reason for the defeat. After that, we weren’t in the game. I think in the first half, we deserved to concede more.

“We started better in the second half and we showed some spirit. But we need to talk about the spirit in the first half because the team can’t show that.

“The international break? The break is important, they will be on international duty. It’s a shame that we can’t be with the players for ten days, but I hope they come back fresh and focused on finishing the season in the best way,” Pochettino told PSGTV.

The result against Monaco means PSG are still on top of the Ligue 1 table with 65 points from 29 games.
