AFCON: Eguavoen reveals what he told Super Eagles players before Egypt victory
Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has explained that the team’s performance in their 1-0 win over Egypt on Tuesday is down to a change in style..
Eguavoen began his third stint in charge of the Nigerian national team after Gernot Rohr was sacked before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
With only a few weeks in charge, the 56-year-old has installed a new playing style that saw the Eagles beat the Pharaohs in their Group D opener.
“Every coach has their style, philosophy and leadership.
“We wanted to play the attacking football that is our identity.
“I told the players to see me as their brother and father.
“We have a path towards the same direction, we have the privilege to serve the country, and we must always give our best,” Eguavoen told reporters after the game.
