A Yoruba group known as Apapo Oodua Koya (AOKOYA) has broken silence over the report that the proscribed IPOB group is planning an attack on Lagos, describing the claim from the police as a grand plot to set the Yorubas against the Igbos. The group said that they do not believe the claim, and that IPOB is not their problem.

It should be recalled that Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had raised an alarm that IPOB is planning to attack some soft targets in Lagos, and had warned the people to be vigilant.

He said that the threat from IPOB to attack soft targets in Lagos is being put on the radar of the command intelligence gathering and other security operatives in the state, and that strategies are being put in place to ensure that the plot is neutralized.

The police commissioner urged the people to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or their movements to the security operatives.

In its reaction to the claim from the police, AOKOYA group said that the claim is false, and that the claim also stirs some anxiety concerning the silence of the same police on the issue of killer herdsmen that have been attacking the South- West people.

The group said that it is possible some hoodlums might be plotting to attack soft targets in Lagos and then the police will finger IPOB in the attacks just to set Yoruba people against the Igbos.

He said that when killer herdsmen were attacking Yoruba people the police did not mention names, and urged the Yorubas and Igbos to beware.

The group called on the federal government to send soldiers to Yewa, Igana in Oyo and South- West forests to flush out the terrorists from those places.

The group said that IPOB is not their problem, and that IPOB is not killing Yoruba people, neither are they kidnapping Yoruba people, abusing their women or killing their farmers. The group urged the police to concentrate on the terrorists that are in the South- West forests attack their people instead of trying to set the Yoruba people against the Igbos.

The group also called on Igbos living in Lagos and the Yoruba people to continue living together in peace, and explore areas of cooperation and not ruin the fruitful economic ties that they have both enjoyed for a long time.

When Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, raised the alarm that IPOB was plotting to attack soft targets in Lagos, the issue had stirred serious anxiety on social media. But now the AOKOYA group says it does not believe the claim from the police, and described it as a move to set the Yorubas against the Igbos. The group also urged Igbos living in Lagos and the Yorubas to continue living in harmony and not destroy the good relationship that has been growing between them for years now.
