A group agitating for Biafra freedom known as, Biafra Nations League, has demanded that the executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, lift the ban he placed on Igbo meetings and gatherings in Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State.

Recall that Wike had proscribed scheduled meetings of some Igbos living in Oyigbo.

Wike reportedly took the decision due to fears of such gatherings inducing unrest in the area.

Reacting, the Biafra Nations League cautioned the Governor to desist from incessant threats against South Eastern Igbos on account of the affairs of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The group made this known in a press statement endorsed by its Head of Operations, and Deputy Leader, Ebuta Akor Takon, BBS Media, and Linus Essien, the Chief of Staff.

BNL stated that the current Imo Attacks was not comparable to the related attacks executed by non Igbo militants in Rivers State years back.

They accused Governor Wike of using sentiments against the people of Igbo land when he was also an Igbo man.

They warned that giving Igbos terrorist treatment would create the real terrorism.

BNL reiterated that Wike should unban meetings of Igbo groups in Oyigbo, else they would dispatch their group from Bakassi Peninsula to wreak terror on companies in the capital city of Rivers State, Portharcourt.

” [We) call on Wike to reverse the ban on Igbo groups to freely hold their meetings, otherwise we’ ll deploy our men from Bakassi Peninsula to terrorize oil companies in Port Harcourt coastal areas. ”

BNL is agitating for Biafra freedom from Nigeria. Their operations are mostly within Bakassi Peninsula area.
