The Nigerian singer and songwriter Wizkid is no new name to the musical industry. He began recording music at the age of 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born 16 July 1990), known professionally as Wizkid is no new name in the music industry, he known both in Nigeria and internationally.

But before all these fame arose, he was still struggling to come to limelight.

He rose to prominence after releasing ” Holla at Your Boy”, the lead single from his debut studio album Superstar in 2011.

Some of his famous songs of then include: Love my baby, Pakurumo, baddest boy and so many others.

“Ojuelegba”, the song that shot Wizkid firmly into international exposure, tells a story. The music artist comes from Ojuelegba in Lagos. Ojuelegba used to be famous for touts and is located in the Surulere axis of Lagos.

Wizkid was signed to Empire Mates Entertainment (abbreviated as E. M. E ) was a Nigerian record label founded by Banky W and Tunde Demuren in 2002. It was home to recording artists such as Wellington himself and Niyola. DJ Xclusive was the label’s official DJ.

Banky W announced in February 2018 that E. M. E was dissolved as a record label. In a video interview that surfaced online on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, Starboy said he had to leave the record label without a penny because he felt he had got to a stage, where he had to move forward.

In April 2013, Wizkid signed Maleek Berry and Legendury Beatz to his imprint, Starboy Entertainment.

Wizkid is said to be the most decorated African artist internationally, and one of the most revolutionary Afro – pop acts of the modern era. In February 2014, Wizkid became the first Nigerian musician to have over one million followers on Twitter.

In June 2015, it was reported that Wizkid had ditched MTN and signed a ₦128 million deal with GLO.

Of recent times, there have been comparisons between Wizkid and his fellow musical compatriots Davido about who’s the best from both of them.

Wizkid has three male children with three different women. They were born on 13 May 2011, 15 January 2016, and 28 October 2017 respectively.

In terms of award, Wizkid is the most awarded African artist at the BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, Billboard Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards and MOBO Awards.
