Angry Reactions After New Covid-19 Variant Being Labelled ‘The SA Strain’

Mzanzi Twitter was up in arms this morning after a Japanese publication labeled the new Covid-19 variant as ‘The SA strain’..

South African’s has been hardly by the new Covid-19 strain as they enter level 3 lockdown. Other countries including Japan have recorded new cases of the Covid-19 variant with even one publication labeling it as a South African virus. A backlash has since ensued on Twitter after Mzanzi Twitter caught up with the article.

Many felt South African have been unfairly blamed for the spread of the new variant with many tweeps taking the comment section of the publication to make their grievances known.
