A popular Nigerian filmmaker, Ideh Chukwuma has been spotted in a viral video trying to stop an angry mob from destroying properties in Lagos.

Recall that shortly after the Lekki tollgate shooting incidence on Tuesday night, some angry youths had taken to the streets to destroy and loot properties owned by individuals, the government and even businesses.

There had been reports that places like Channel television, TVC, police stations had been set on fire. Some videos online had also shown youths carrying off what looked like COVID-19 palliatives that had been stored in warehouses.

Lots of celebrities including actress Uche Elendu and Yomi Casual had also been affected as their place of business had been looted and destroyed.

However, as the angry mob tried to continue their destruction of properties, filmmaker Chukwuma decided that enough was enough.

In the video, he was seen telling the mob that they will have to go through him before setting any property on fire.

He encouraged them to protest without destroying any property. He also wondered what they are fighting for if they will burn down their city.

Chukwuma also asked the mob why they are killing policemen since they claim they are fighting to also improve the lives of security operatives.

He was heard saying, “Hold on, it is enough. If you want to burn down this city, you will have to kill me first.

“As long as I live, none of you will destroy, burn or take down any facility in this state again. The country belongs to you, what are you fighting for? Is this peaceful? Is this what you call peace?

“Ask for your right, protest in peace. Exercise your right in peace. I went to a military school, so you will not burn down my city. Do you understand?

“If you say you want them to treat the police right, then why are you killing the police? Why are you fighting the police? I have taken some of you to the hospital, some have died.”

He proceeded to give some of the items he had collected from the mob to some soldiers standing around.
