Why Former Real Madrid Star, Emmanuel Adebayor Called His Mum A Witch Trying To Kill Him. (Video)
Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor is a successful footballer having played in some of the biggest clubs in the world including Real Madrid, Arsenal, Tottenham, and AS Monaco. At the pinnacle, he earned a big-money move from the Gunners to Manchester City, and that marked the beginning of his extraordinary riches. A subsequent move to Turkey raked in more dollars for the Togolese.

However, despite the huge wealth, Adebayor has always been accused of neglecting his immediate family especially his aged mother. The 36-year-old was born in Lome to Nigerian parents that migrated to the West African country,
In what has been a long feud between the player and members of his family, in 2014, Adebayor called out his biological mother for being a witch claiming that his own mother and relatives have been plotting “juju” (witchcraft) against him aimed at bringing his career to a premature end.
But his family hit back by claiming that the star had been ‘brainwashed’ by Islamic spiritual healers who told him that his poor form on the football pitch was down to black magic.
Adebayor was playing at Spurs when he accused his mother of witchcraft
The player, speaking to British newspaper the Daily Mail in 2009, had spoken of his pride at representing his family internationally when he started his career in France, claiming he was “playing for their sake.”
“At the airport, my mum said, ‘go to France and you can change the way this family lives.’ She knew that if I succeeded in football we could have a better life and finally get out of poverty. At 15 I wasn’t just playing for my own glory, I was playing for the sake of my family,” he had said.

All that has changed now with a now matured and wealthy Sheyi Adebayor strongly defending his decision to stay away from his family by accusing his mother of using witchcraft to attack him, the mother he once hailed as the best in the world and went with to receive the Africa footballer of the year award.
Adebayor also featured for Real Madrid in 2011
According to report, the former Togo captain apparently sent his mother packing from his house and didn’t set eyes or spoken with her for a long time.
Adebayor’s sister Maggie also revealed in an interview with a radio station of how the striker had abandoned his family, leaving them in an impoverished state, and had declined to answer any of the calls they had made to him for over a year.
Adebayor’s sister accused him of abandoning their mum
“As at now, our mother is selling polythene bags, padlocks, and other things on the [Ghana-Togo] border. Our mother has not seen him for more than a year and he rejects her calls anytime. Our mother is not calling him for his money, she just wants to see him because she loves him very much,” she said.
In a sharp response, Adebayor confirmed to the same radio station that he has neglected his mother and is out of touch with her and his siblings because they have an evil agenda against him.
