Gary Lineker blasts VAR, ref over penalty decision in Leicester’s 2-0 win over Arsenal
Lineker, has given his verdict on the penalty decision by VAR in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday.
Leicester had the better of the first half exchanges at the King Power Stadium against Arsenal side struggling under Unai Emery.
In the tenth minute, Leicester thought they should have had a penalty.
Caglar Soyuncu darted in towards the back post to try and attack a cross from the left hand side but appeared to be pulled back by Matteo Guendouzi.
However, after a swift check by the VAR official, no spot-kick was awarded.
And former Leicester player, Lineker blasted VAR for the intricacies of the offside law while not giving penalties for situations like that.
Lineker tweeted, “One replay was enough to see that that was a penalty on Soyuncu. Not given, of course, but they’ll spend 3 minutes playing with their silly offside lines to try and rule out goals. Weird.”
