Argentine World Cup winner, Diego Maradona, has been banned from entering the US after insulting President Donald Trump on South American TV.

Lawyer to the the football icon revealed this.

Daily Mail reports that Maradona was giving an interview to Venezuelan TV station ‘TeleSur’, when he was asked what he thought of the US President.

He told the TV channel that “Donald Trump is a chirolita.”

“chirolita” is a slang and common insult in Argentina that refers to people who are under the orders of others as puppets.

The football icon had needed to travel to Miami, Florida, to face a trial involving his ex-wife Claudia Villafane, who had bought property under her maiden name despite being married.

At the time of the interview, the 57-year-old was in the process of applying for a visa to the States, which was subsequently denied.

Maradona’s lawyer, Matias Morla said that following Maradona’s choice comments, he told the ex-player, “After this, I said I’m going to have to represent you in Miami instead.”

It is not the first time Maradona has been barred from the United States.

During World Cup USA ’94, the Argentina captain was sent home after testing positive for cocaine.
