Leicester have sacked manager Craig Shakespeare.

“There was a meeting in the last few hours and Leicester players and staff haven’t been told.

“Shakespeare took charge of a behind-closed-doors friendly today and that only finished at 1pm, after which he was told he was relieved of his duties.

“Leicester will take their time in getting the right replacement and making sure they get who they want.

Craig Shakespeare won eight of his 16 games in charge last season, and led the club to the Champions League quarter-finals.

His departure follows a 1-1 draw with West Brom on Monday.

The last time Leicester went six league matches without a victory, Ranieri was sacked – nine months after leading them to the title.

Shakespeare was given money to spend during the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Harry Maguire for £17million and Kelechi Iheanacho for £25m.
