Chester Bennington’s very last interview gives an insight into the Linkin Park frontman’s complex relationship with depression.

The 41-year-old father-of-six was tragically found dead at his home , just outside of Los Angeles, on Thursday. He had just come back from a holiday with his wife of 12 years Talinda Ann Bentley.

Fans will know that the singer had a turbulent past when it came to mental health as well as substance abuse, though he had previously put these behind him.

In what is believed to be his last ever interview, obtained exclusively by Mirror Online, the Crawling singer talks about death and how he valiantly battled on during his darkest hours.

Speaking to Will Lavin, he said:

I came to a point in my life where I was like, ‘I can either just give up and fu*king die or I can fu*king fight for what I want.’ And I chose to fight for what I wanted. I wanted to have good relationships. I wanted to love the people in my life. I wanted to enjoy my job.

I wanted to enjoy being a dad and having friends and just getting up in the morning. Because that was a struggle for me.

He spoke candidly about how the band’s latest album had helped him to come out of the “darkest time” of his life, adding that it was the point that he “chose to fight for what I wanted”.
