Leicester City have completed the signing of Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi, subject to international clearance from the Belgian FA and successful work permit application.

The midfielder’s bonafide representative was contacted to confirm reports that his client missed training at Racing Genk on Monday because he travelled to England to undergo a medical at Leicester City.

“The current news is Ndidi has signed for Leicester City already. The contract is for five years,” his rep briefly told allnigeriasoccer.com. Ndidi, 19, joined Racing Genk in January 2015, and made 80 appearances for the club, scoring 7 goals in all competitions.

The contract he signed with Leicester City will be activated immediately the transfer window reopens for business.

The move of Ndidi to English Premier League champions Leicester City is the second most expensive transfer involving a Nigerian teenager. Racing Genk will pocket a minimum of €17 million euros transfer fee from the sale of their Nigerian jewel to the Foxes, if performance-related incentives are not included in the mix.

John Obi Mikel remains the most expensive Nigerian teenager signed by a foreign club after Chelsea paid 20 million euros in total to Manchester United and Lyn Oslo for his services more than ten years ago.

For the time being, until Ndidi completes his transfer, Ahmed Musa cost CSKA Moscow €5 million when he joined the Russian champions from VVV Venlo in January 2012, the second most expensive Nigerian teenager to date.
