This is the incredible moment Enner Valencia appeared to fake an injury to flee police amid a row over unpaid child maintenance. The Everton loanee was chased out of the stadium by officers during Ecuador’s 3-0 win over Chile on Thursday night. The striker, on loan from West Ham, was in his homeland for the World Cup qualifier when he was met by police and lawyers following a training session on Wednesday. Valencia was faced by authorities holding a judicial order, with lawyers representing the mother of his five-year-old daughter seeking an alleged £13,350 in maintenance.

The 26-year-old was greeted at the Atahualpa stadium in Quito on Wednesday, where Ecuador were training ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Chile. The lawyers, however, failed to have the player detained. However, judicial officials were again waiting pitch-side during the match in Quito as Ecuador eased to a win over the Copa America champions. But Valencia pulled up late on, seemingly injured, and was taken off on a stretcher before being pulled onto a golf cart.

In incredible scenes, caught on camera by Andrés Muñoz Araneda, as the cart made its way around the running track, officials appeared to give chase as Valencia was driven into an ambulance ready to take him out of the stadium apparently on his way to hospital. Valencia’s attempts to flee may have been in vain however as the player’s lawyer, Juan Carlos Carmigniani agreed a deal to void the court order for the time being. The Everton forward slept in the team’s training base post-match and Carmigniani assured local media that no more action will be taken against his client.
