Ikorodu Secondary School Girls' Abductors Demand N20m Per Student Before Release
The kidnappers who stormed Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary, Ikorodu, Lagos, Monday night and abducted three Senior Secondary School female students have reduced the ransom to N20 million per student, reports have said.
As at midnight Tuesday, the kidnappers who initially demanded for N100 million for each student, succumbed to passionate pleas by their contact in the school, reports Vanguard.
The kidnappers are said to be militants turned vandals.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has vowed to ensure the rescue of the students.
“We have not been silent on this unfortunate development. In a delicate security matter of this nature, where young innocent people are involved and management of information demands utmost circumspect, we were convinced that swift and coordinated reaction, guided by intelligence reports on the part of the Police, was a better and more sensitive approach to take, rather than a sensational, panic-stricken reaction,” Governor Ambode said in a statement signed by the commissioner of information, Steve Ayorinde.
