Other Dramas That Went Down At #Headies2015 But Got Overshadowed By Olamide And Don Jazzy Beef

The 10th edition of the Headies which took place last night, Jan 1st 2016, entertained us with some gist worthy and memorable events, that no one is talking about because of Olamide’s unfortunate outburst on stage. From Majek Fashek’s surprise performance, to our introduction to Pastor Harrysong, join me as I count down the gist worthy events that went down last night that weren’t about Olamide.
Eva’s proposal
We were all shocked when rapper and makeup artist, Eva got proposed to by her boo, Tinsel actor Ceasar. The “proposal” ended up being quite dramatic as we weren’t sure if it was part of Victoria Kimani’s performance with the rapper, a publicity stunt by the rapper or if it was the real deal. We all talked about it briefly……until it was swallowed up by Olamide’s antics. I am quite sure Eva won’t be happy though……cos we aren’t talking about her.
Majek Fashek’s performance
Majek Fashek performed for the first time on stage at an awards ceremony since, he was allegedly checked into a rehabilitation centre by Warri based billionaire businessman, Ayiri last year. The ‘’rain maker” performed impressively alongside the biggest winner at the 10th Headies, Timi Dakolo yesterday.
2face and Don Jazzy’s recognition
Two of Nigeria’s most respected figures in Nigeria’s music industry, 2face and Don Jazzy were honoured yesterday for their contribution to the industry. As expected, Don Jazzy looked more pissed that pleased when he accepted his award and did not hide it. He expressed his anger and disgust when he dropped the “if it is the car you want, come and collect it” line.
Bovi disses Freeze
The comedian, who was one of the hosts for the event, took direct shots at controversial OAP, Freeze, who is currently engaged in an ongoing battle with comedian Basket Mouth. This ordinarily would have gotten people talking and would have even trended on social media.
Bovi steps out in Denrele Edun’s costume
Event host, Bovi didn’t do badly on the night with several high points and jokes which got the crowd laughing their minds out. One of his biggest moment of the night was however when he turned up on stage in a Denrele Edun inspired costume which was well pulled off. The comedian was dressed in one of Denrele’s fierce costumes with a gigantic hair and high heels which was quite an amusing moment with even Denrele had to give him props for pulling it off….
Bovi mimicking D’banj’s towel appearance
Another major highlight of the Headies was Bovi’s remake of D’banj’s 2005 towel performance. The comedian stepped out in a similar towel to D’banj’s and was introduced by Kaffy as B’banj. Posing as a rapper who believed he’s widely hated, he made the whole auditorium laugh with his various actions and attempts at rapping.
Kaffy’s opening dance
Little wonder she is called a dance queen. Kaffy was absolutely amazing on the night as she co-hosted the Headies alongside Bovi. Her highpoint was however when she opened the show with a absolutely wonderful dance performance. She performed to Asa’s ‘Dead Again’ and Tiwa Savage’s ‘African Waist’ then turned the place upside down when she delivered an eccentric dance routine to hard beats from the band….
Simi and Falz were a perfect couple on stage
Is it just us or have you also discovered this duo have a unique chemistry (apologies Adekunle Gold) on stage? Their performance at the Headies was terrific. Simi and Falz performed Jamb Question which got everyone applauding and as if that wasn’t enough, they crowned it with a rendition of ‘Soldier’ off Falz’s new album. They also wowed the crowd when they showed off some salsa moves. Now we simply can’t await the release of the video for ‘Soldier’
Beverly Osu returns to her dancing roots
The BBA alumni, went back to her dancing roots when she danced at the Headies alongside respected dancer and host of the event Kaffy.
We were introduced to Pastor HarrySong
Five Star music act, Harrysong, had an amazing year last year with his monster hit “Reggae Blues”. The visibly elated music star became a Pastor on stage when he gave his testimony of how he started out in the music industry and how God lifted him to his present position.
Vector subs who?
This is what I kept asking whenever talented rapper Vector came to collect his awards. Well, peeps claim he was taking shots at other celebs, specifically at another rapper . By the way, I think his performance was effortlessly dope……..and that Agbada swag…….GQ worthy. 🙂
Denrele’s antics
In every sincerity, whatever Denrele does isn’t going to surprise me again. The self confessed “Denrele the werreh” has done it all. But the truth is that I love him, so I’m going to talk about him *lol*.
Harrysong‘s Gala endorsement announcement
Okay, calm down, the Five Star Music act didnt just come on stage to announce that he is now an ambassador for sausage company, Gala. He actually disclosed this during an impressive freestyle performance which saw him thrill the audience with his life story, successes and how his song, ‘Reggae Blues’ has changed everything for him. He ended his performance with a nice delivery of the hit song which originally features Olamide, Kcee, Iyanya and Orezi.
2face‘s emotional performance
Moments after receiving the Lifetime Achievement award, Hypertek boss, 2face Idibia also delivered an impressive performance which left many asking for more.
Yemi Alade‘s speech
Yemi Alade got everyone applauding her when she opened up about what she has gone through in the past in the process of making her way to the top. She revealed that on several occasions, she called Headies boss, Ayo Animashaun for a chance to perform at the awards but kept being turned down. She also disclosed that she felt dejected after losing the Next Rated category a year ago. All that is history now and Yemi Alade is a proud winner at the Headies…
