Governor Udom Emmanuel Lays Foundation For Shoprite In Akwa Ibom (Photos)

The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state- His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel on 21st of August 2015 performed the ground breaking ceremony of ShopRite in Ibom Tropicana Complex, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
ShopRite is a chain of shopping malls which began sales in 1946 and have been running successfully for 69 years, spreading across America & Africa. Shoprite is popularly known as the No.1 shopping and retail market, with about 300 outlets and shops spread across the world. Shoprite has maintained its company reputation for years offering first class service to customers with outstanding service delivery and supply of quality products.The foundation stone of the giant shopping mall was unveiled amidst pleasantries from the Honourable Commissioner of Investment, Commerce & Industry- Barr. Emmanuel Enodiem, who gave the welcome address, reassuring the guests of the administration’s determination to embark on wealth creating projects for the people.Present at the occasion were the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Moses Ekpo, members of the stateexecutive council and members of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly
.Speaking at the occasion, the Governor stressed the need to initiate developments that will create employment opportunities for Akwa Ibom youth.In response, the Managing Director of Resilient Africa- Mr. Holden Marshal expressed delight in the partnership with the state government and promised to deliver the project within the next 18 months with the standard which ShopRite is known for over the years.
Mr. Holden further assured the host community of involvement in the construction process and employmentof an average of 600 youths in the course of the project.Speaking with The Gazette, indigenes of Itiam, Etoi and Afaha expresses theirjoys, as they are confidant in the delivery of democracy dividends, as promised by the Governor during his electioneering campaign.
