NFF To Probe Enyeama After He Allegedly Tore A Query Letter
Nigeria senior international first-choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama is set to thread the rough path with the Nigeria Football Federation after he tore a query issued to him over his comments about the safety of Kaduna as host of the Afcon qualifier against Chad at the weekend.
According to sources close to the national team, the Super Eagles captain tore a query handed to him right in the presence of top NFF officials. The football federation has now transferred the matter to the Disciplinary Committee.
The development marks another trough in the frosty relationship between the LOSC Lille goalkeeper and the NFF, which also brings to mind his role in the flight saga under coach Samson Siasia and the pay saga that overshadowed the country’s preparation for the 2013 Confederation Cup.
“Top NFF officials said he tore the query he was issued. What Vincent did is unacceptable and he cannot go unpunished for this… ex-International Garba Lawal.
In consequence, newly elected Governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El Rufai, was understood to have been irked by the shot-stopper’s assertions and, even needed some persuasion by high ranking NFF officials to agree to grace the 2-0 win over Chad at the Ahmadu Bello stadium.
Enyeama is understood to have apologised, but the fraternity are poised to ensure the issue is fully probed with the player likely to be suspended from international duty.
Ironically, the goalkeeper became the most capped Nigeria international on Saturday, taking his appearances at full international level to 101 in the 2017 Afcon qualifier.
