Ex-Speaker, Aminu Bello Masari Wins Katsina Governorship Election

Former speaker of the House of Representatives and APC candidate, Aminu Bello Masari has been declared winner of Katsina state gubernatorial election.
Masari polled 943, 0815 votes to emerged winner after defeating six other candidates including the PDP candidate and Shema’s annointed, Musa Nashuni.
The result declared by INEC returning officer, Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis showed that the candidate of ruling PDP, Musa Nashuni polled 476,768.
According to the result, the candidate of PDM Yakubu Garba Lado scored 50,361 votes while the APGA candidate, Abdullahi Umar Tsauri Polled 42, 302 votes.
Professor Bilbis said a total of 1,555,333 was cast at the poll out of which 151,4000 were valid while 41,333 votes were rejected.
“Aminu Bello Masari having scored the highest votes cast and satisfied the provisions of the law is hereby declared elected”Bilbis said.
Speaking shortly after he was declared winner, Masari lauded voters in the state assuring that he would justify the confidence reposed in him.
Masari also extended hands of friendship to all those that contested along with him noting that his doors are wide opened for suggestions.
He pledged to transform Katsina in the next six months assuring that the people of Katsina state will see the change they so desire.
Our correspondent reports that Masari’s victory at the polls came after three failed attempts having tried in 2007 and 2011 when he was defeated by the ruling PDP.
