Moyes recently got appointed as the coach of Real Sociedad and he just revealed that he has similar attributes to the Portuguese Coach who began his career in Spain.
New Real Sociedad coach David Moyes believes he has similar attributes to Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho as begins his first managerial stint in Spain.
Moyes was answering questions from journalist who enquired to know what sort of style was he going to play, current Bayern coach Pep Guardiola or former Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, to which the Scot replied: “Probably more like Mourinho. I’m tough with the players and I like to work hard.
“I want to enjoy the challenge of getting towards the top of La Liga. I joined a club similar to Real Sociedad in Everton around 12 years ago and I left them challenging near the top. I hope to do the same here.”
Moyes had spent only 10 months as coach of Manchester United in which he managed to fail to qualify the Red Devils to the champions league, first time in a decades.
Moyes talked of moving outside the Uk, he said: “It was a big ambition of mine to manage abroad,”“I’m well rested, I have had six months off and I’m raring to go.
“I had several offers in the Premier League, but the only place that tugged at the heart strings was Sociedad. Coming here gives me the opportunity to manage in La Liga, which I consider the best league in the world.
“This is a big challenge, an opportunity to show that British managers can manage abroad. I’m always beating the drum about British managers managing abroad, so hopefully I’m the first of many. Hopefully it will make it a lot easier for others to do so as well in the future.”
Moyes was announced as the new Sociedad boss this week after replacing Jagoba Arrasate at the helm of the La Liga outfit, who currently lie 15th in the Spanish standings.
