Gunmen Attacks Female Hostels In Uyo, Rapes Students
Latest reports inform that the unexpected happened at the weekend inside the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Anua, Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State when armed bandits stormed the school’s female hotels and carried out their nefarious activities for hours without challenge.
According to a report published by Abusidiqu.com, students of the institution informed that the unknown gunmen combed the entire female hostels carting away several valuables, including smart phones, laptops, and money meant for the students’ upkeep and purchase of school materials.
It was also gathered that the armed bandits also tried to rape some female students inside their hostels but stopped short of going into detail.
“They came when some of the students were already asleep, while others were reading and preparing for weekend test.
“Some of the doors and windows were open for ventilation since we don’t have power for almost a year now as there’s no light or working fan.
“There are reports of some female students suffering sexual assaults but I cannot go into detail because we have some married women here whose husband might not tolerate such ugly incident happening to their wives,” one of the students of the school stated anonymously.
Though the Police Public Relation Officer in Akwa Ibom could not be reached as at the time of compiling this report, but a senior police officer confirmed the incident.
The police officer, who claimed to be among those that went to the hostels after the unfortunate incident, informed that they have temporary outlawed the movement of individuals in the area from 9:00pm.
