APC In Trouble Over Buhari's Comment
Following a comment by Muhammadu Buhari on the best candidate for the party’s governorship ticket in Kaduna State, some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have threatened to defect.
During the public declaration of Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i for the state governorship seat, Buhari who is a chieftain and presidential aspirant of the APC had stated that the people of Kaduna needed El-Rufai to rescue the state from bad leadership and decay.
Apparently, some members are not happy over this comment.
There are indications that the El-Rufa’i governorship campaign team was in crisis over the appointment of a spokesperson for the organisation.
Some concerned members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State have also alleged that El-Rufa’i was originally from Katsina Sate and that he should stop heating up the polity in Kaduna State.
Meanwhile, there seems to be tension in the Kaduna chapter of the APC, following accusations from some executive members that El-Rufa’i was allegedly manipulating the party’s state chairman, Barnabas Bala Bantex, to his advantage.
The state deputy chairman of the party, Danladi Wada accused the Bala-led executive of continued disregard to the directive of the national secretariat of the party on the congresses for the election of the party officers in some local government areas.
Expressing their anger over Bala’s disregard for party instructions, the aggrieved members called on the national leadership of the party to intervene in the matter before it was too late.
The members who are not happy with the development are calling for a concerted action so as to rescue the party.
Recall that some members of the APC in Zaria area of Kaduna state had engaged in a physical combat on Monday, October 27 at Teejay palace preventing Malam Nasir El-Rufai from holding a meeting with the party executives in the local government area.
