Soldiers, Police Clash Over Shooting Of Colleague To Death By DPO

A soldier reportedly lost his live during a clash between him and a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Zuru, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Daily Trust, trouble started when a soldier in mufti who was riding a motorcycle overtook a Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
The DPO caught up with the soldier as he stopped at a vulcanizer’s shed along the road to repair his tyre.
The soldier was said to have identified himself but the DPO went ahead and slapped him twice.
Angry over the slap, the soldier reportedly picked an iron rod which he used on the DPO’s head. The DPO then ordered his patrol officers with him to shoot the soldier.
“He was shot twice and he died on the spot,” the witness said.
The development resulted in a bloody clash as soldiers from the nearby 223 Light Tank, Dakarawa Barracks went rampage. They  took the policemen to their barracks and barricaded the area to prevent movement.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Kabiru Rawanyau, said the matter is under investigation.
“We will speak to you as soon as investigation is concluded,” he said.
This is not the first time the police and army would be engaged in a show of power. On Thursday, July 17, policemen and military officers clashed but luckily, there was no casualty.
