Delegate Accuses President Jonathan Over Bomb Blast
Sani Zoro, a delegate representing the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the on-going National Conference on Tuesday accused President Goodluck Jonathan of being biased.
He made the accusation in reaction to the bomb blast that rocked Kano school of Hygiene on Monday, were 8 people were confirmed dead with about 20 others injured.
Speaking on the floor of the plenary during his contribution, Zoro pointed out that the Presidency has not considered it necessary to commiserate with the people of the state alleging that, it is because the state is governed by the opposition.
“The last time this body agreed to convey condolence to the government and people of Plateau State, but there has been no expression of sympathy to the people of Kano State” Zoro said. “My personal analysis has shown that condolences have not been extended to states that are not controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This lack of communication by Mr. President is unfair. Anybody who is saying that I am wrong should show me where the Presidency has sent condolences to people in the North West zone. I want to bring to the notice of this august House that the Presidency should send messages of condolences to the people of Kano State”.
The delegate while trying to prove his point reiterated that: “As a media man, I subscribed and get all the news alerts from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and I have monitored with interest how the Presidency has responded and commiserated with victims of bomb blast in the last two years”.
Zoro rested his contributions by alleging that the Presidency have chosen states and people to commiserate with in time of misfortunes.
Similarly, Senator Adefemi Killa, condemned the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians by the Islamist and called for a one-minute silence for the dead.
Killa, who insisted that government must declare total war on terrorism said: “We need to hammer on issues that bring this country together more than what divides us. One of such is the performance of the Super Eagles at the World Cup. I want this Conference to support the team tomorrow”.
