"Eagles can Still Top Group" – Kanu Nwankwo
Former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu is confident the side have the quality and ability to see off Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Argentina, in their remaining World Cup Group F encounters.
The Super Eagles got their Brazil adventure off to a slow start as they played out a goalless draw against Iran in their opener last week, and next face the Golden Lilies at Arena Pantanal on Saturday.
Stephen Keshi’s men will then close out the first round against global titans Argentina on June 25, but Kanu, who played at three World Cup finals during his professional career, is confident the team are more than capable of beating both their remaining opponents and qualifying through to the last-16 as group winners.
“We can beat any team. We can beat Bosnia and we can also beat Argentina. But to achieve this, we must work hard,” he said.
“It’s too early to write off Nigeria’s chances. It’s just our first game and we have to now move forward.
“We have to learn from it, draw from the positives and move on.”
