Court Remands 38-Year-Old Man For Allegedly Raping
A 38-year-old man, Kunle Owotuyi, was on Thursday remanded by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 26- year-old lady.
Cpl. Monica Ikebuilo, the police prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 29 at Erinjiyan-Ekiti.
According to her, the accused on the said date unlawfully raped the lady without her consent.
Ikebuilo informed the court that the offence was contrary to section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor said she had forwarded the case file to the Directorate of Public prosecution(DPP) for legal advice. Meanwhile, the plea of the accused was not taken while his counsel, Sola Fapohunda, sought for adjournment pending receipt of legal advice.
Magistrate Doyin Akosile ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to June 2 for further hearing.
