Gerrard, Suarez, and Manager Rodgers sweep clean Barclays Monthly Awards
Liverpool have claimed a clean sweep of Barclays monthly awards, with manager Brendan Rodgers, captain Steven Gerrard and top scorer Luis Suarez all honoured after collecting five consecutive wins in a flawless March.
Rodgers guided the club to the summit of the Barclays Premier League last month after they gained maximum points over five matches, scoring 22 goals in the process. The former Swansea City manager won his second Barclays monthly award of the season, and third overall, after an irresistible run that included a
3-0 win against reigning champions Manchester United and a 4-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Barclays Player of the Month award was shared for the sixth time as the vote was split by the judging panel. Gerrard earned the honour for the fifth time in his career after playing an integral role in central midfield and scoring four goals, including a
double against rivals Man United at Old Trafford.
Suarez scored six times and provided two assists in March to claim the honour for the second time this season. The Uruguayan has now taken his tally to 29 goals in 28 Barclays Premier League appearances in an extraordinary 2013/14 campaign.
