Unemployment is not only a Nigeria issue as thousands of jobseekers queued in the Midlands this weekend
for the chance to apply for 40 jobs being offered at fast-growing
budget supermarket Aldi.
The German discounter, which has seen its share of the grocery sector
grow to a record 4.3 per cent after piling more pressure on the big
four supermarkets, is searching for stock and store assistants to work
at existing West Midlands stores as well as at a new store opening in
Wolverhampton.

The interviews, which were being held at Brierley Hill in Dudley
on Friday, were due to start at 1pm, but jobseekers started queuing as
early as 10am, according to reports.
A store assistant earns between £7.95 and £9.50, according to Aldi’s
website, and applicants would work a minimum of 20 hours a week.
Aldi, which opened its 500th store in September last year, aims to win
over more customers from its major competitors by opening 50 more
stores this year.
