Test report shows rape as Obesere case continues

Controversy has continued to dog the allegation of rape
against popular Fuji musician; Abass Akande fondly called
Obesere by his fans.
The police in Lagos yesterday disclosed that report of
medical examination showed that the woman who leveled the
allegation was actually raped.
The state Deputy Police Public Relations Officer,
Damasus Ozoani, told NT Metro that the incident was
reported at Isolo divisional police station on February 12 by
a businesswoman, Miss Olanike Olaiya.
According to him, the police arrested the musician, but
released him on an administrative bail. Ozoani said Obesere
spurned police invitation after the examination showed that
the 29-year-old lady was actually raped.
He said: “He (Obesere) was re-arrested after the police
got a warrant of arrest and transferred the case to the State
Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.”
Ozoani added that the police were still investigating the
incident.
But investigation shows that Obesere has been released
again. The musician told our correspondent yesterday that
he was framed up.
Although, Obesere admitted sleeping with Olaiya, who he
said was his friend, he said it was consensual. He, however,
said he realised that the woman was sent to blackmail him by
some unnamed adversaries when she demanded N10 million
after they slept together.
Earlier, Olaiya had accused Obesere of forcefully having
carnal knowledge of her in his Okota residence, Lagos when
she went there for assistance.
The victim, who deals in office equipment, told the police
she contacted Obesere, who asked her to meet him in his
family house at Okota.
In her complaint at the police station, Olaiya alleged that
after she introduced her line of business to the musician, he
promised to connect her to some of his friends in Dubai who
would sell goods to her on credit.
“After the discussion, he started demanding for sex and I
refused and when I wanted to leave, he insisted I should
sleep over in his house because it was late, claiming that it
was dangerous to go out late in the night in his area.
“I thought he was a responsible man and I decided to sleep
over, but at the dead of the night, he came into the room
where I slept and pounced on me.
“He raped me and afterwards inserted a ring he wore into
my private part and I started bleeding. He hurriedly left me
in the room, saying he had an appointment to fulfill,” she
reportedly said in her complaint
