There was apprehension in the Tokulo community of the Bwari Area Council in the FCT following the discovery of 12 corpses suspected to be those of bandits.

The councillor representing the Igu Ward in the area council, Jerry Alkali, told Daily Trust that the bodies were still there on Tuesday morning, October 15, 2024.

Alkali said residents called him between 2 and 3 am on Monday, lamenting how they were terrified by repeated sounds of gunshots in the area.

“No one could afford to sleep at the time due to the tension caused by the development. It was later in the morning when some of them were heading to their farms that they sighted corpses lying on the ground outside the village along a road that leads to the Pmape community in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State,” he said.

Also speaking, another resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said none of the victims were from the community, which indicates that the deceased had either been engaged or brought in and sh0t d3ad by the security men.

According to the publication, Tokulo, the home town of the serving chairman of the Bwari Area Council, has witnessed a series of attacks by the bandits, leading to the killing of locals as well as security men in the past.

An official of the FCT Special Anti-kidnapping Unit confirmed the latest incident but declined further comment on how it happened.
