A video of Osun worshippers performing some river cleansing on newborn baby and by extension, sparking widespread discussions on social media.



The priestess, who are devoted to river goddess (Osun), were seen at a river with the baby and her parents, along with their other devoted worshippers.

The ritual is usually conducted by the Osun river, a body of water believed to be sacred and inhabited by the goddess herself.

In the video, a priestess took the child from the parents and started gently swinging the baby back and forth in the river, initiating her into their spiritual tradition.

The clip raised concerns as social media users shared their thoughts via comment section. Some reactions are shown below:
