Boxing: Dubois retains IBF title after knocking out Anthony Joshua
Daniel Dubois successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title by knocking out former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua in the fifth round, in a dominant first title defence.
The event attracted a record-breaking post-war boxing crowd of 96,000 fans on Saturday at Wembley Stadium in London.
Joshua had already been knocked down in the first and third rounds before a devastating straight right hand from Dubois sent him face down, leading the referee to stop the fight.
Dubois claimed the IBF title after it was vacated by Oleksandr Usyk in June, and this marked his first defense.
By cementing his status as a heavyweight champion, Dubois has set himself up for a potential showdown with the winner of the anticipated rematch between WBA, WBC, and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
