“There’s nothing wrong if producers have sex with actresses to give them movie roles, if there’s an agreement between them, they’re adults” – Actress, Bukky Ogunnote

Veteran Yoruba movie actress Bukky Ogunnote has stirred controversy with her comments on the practice of producers demanding relationships from actresses before granting them roles.

In a video interview with Oyinmomo TV, Ogunnote revealed her perspective on this long-standing issue in the Nigerian movie industry.

Ogunnote stated that it is not a big deal for producers to request relationships from actresses, as long as there is a mutual understanding between both parties. She argued that this practice is not limited to the movie industry, as it exists in other sectors as well, such as the banking and education industries.

“There is no sector in Nigeria where their co-workers don’t date each other, but because we are actors, that is why people get to know about anything we do so quickly,” Ogunnote said.

The veteran actress further elaborated, “Since I have been in the movie industry, no movie producer has ever asked me for a relationship before giving me a movie role, but it’s something that truly exists.”

Ogunnote’s stance is that there is nothing inherently wrong with producers having sexual relationships with actresses in exchange for roles, as long as it is a consensual arrangement between two adults.

“There is nothing wrong if producers have sex with actresses to give them movie roles,” she said. “If there is a mutual agreement between the two of them, then as an adult, they know what they want, and they are free to do it without letting people know about it.”
