19 medical students and a doctor kidnapped in Benue
Gunmen suspected to be kidnapped have abducted 19 medical and dental students and a House Officer in Benue state. The victims were heading to Enugu state for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention.
The students said to be from the University of Jos, were travelling together when they were abducted around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of the state.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, said an investigation had been launched into the abduction.
“Yes, we received a report that medical students from the University of Jos were kidnapped. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”
